Welcome to Macaroni KID!

Hi! I’m Missy, your local Macaroni KID publisher, Long Island mom, and someone who is always looking for the next place to explore, event to check out, or excuse to get outside with my family! 

I love a good adventure and finding new places to visit,  but I also believe some of the best family memories happen in the ordinary moments in between. A day exploring a new park, fishing by the water, wandering through a local museum, seeing a great show, discovering a quirky piece of Long Island history, or simply spending an afternoon outside together can turn into the days we remember most.

Long Island has so much for families to discover. From beaches, parks, preserves, farms, museums, historic places, and hidden local gems to whimsical events, seasonal traditions, family-friendly shows, and businesses doing really fun things for kids, there is always something new to experience. I’m excited to explore it all right alongside you.

As a writer and the founder of So Good At Life, I already spend a lot of my time writing about family connection, outdoor time, activities for kids, travel, and finding a little more wonder in everyday life. Macaroni KID gives me the chance to bring that same spirit even closer to home and share the places, people, events, and experiences that make our Long Island communities so special.

My family loves getting out and doing things together, but we’re also a real family. Not every weekend needs an elaborate plan, an expensive ticket, or a perfectly packed day. Sometimes we’re heading out on a bigger adventure, and sometimes we’re just looking for somewhere fun to spend a Saturday afternoon. I want this to be a resource for all of it.

Each week, I’ll be sharing local family-friendly events, seasonal activities, outdoor adventures, special places to visit, local businesses, crafts, recipes, ideas for family time, and plenty of things I discover along the way.

Most of all, I hope Macaroni KID becomes a place you can turn to when you find yourself asking that familiar question:

“What should we do with the kids this weekend?”
